Drank Tank - Columbus Moonlight Market

Everyone is on the hunt for the next hidden gem. Something not too pricey, but not distasteful. This past Friday, my family and I went into the city of Columbus, Ohio and found the ultimate hidden gem.

The premise of the Moonlight Market is essentially a farmer's market... but at night. It seems simple enough, right? Artisans and connoisseurs of their craft come to pitch their tents and set up eye-catching displays every second Saturday to set up downtown on Gay Street between the hours of 6 pm and midnight. Whether there's flashing lights, music, or fancy candle wax melts (those were extremely popular), a variety of people showcase their passions and connect with those who are like-minded.

I hope you are not too surprised the the coffee snob was on the hunt for an authentic coffee connoisseur like myself. I came upon this boisterous, fun, bright blue three wheeled vehicle - kinda like the the one Mr. Bean drives in his infamous shows and movies. It was known as The Drank Tank. The menu was simple, most likely keeping up with the times and motives of sidewalk shoppers who like to take a quick glance to everything at show. It consisted of a Nitro Cold Brew, a Nitro Buckeye, Kombucha and a few teas... all on tap! The mobile display was incredible and the concept was so different and appealing to any basic coffee-goer.

Here's the great thing about any market overflowing with passionate people: each personality is invigorating and so intriguing that it just compels you to their table, tent or set up immediately. For example, the owner of The Drank Tank was of smaller stature, wearing an ascot hat and a bright blue shirt to match his pride and joy (the truck, not the coffee). He was forward, in a friendly way, and excited all of his customers about the drink choices on his truck. When I asked for a picture of his truck, he was more than happy to support my blog and reposted my Instagram stories immediately after I posted them. I was drawn to him because of his enthusiasm, support and, of course, the free sticker for my laptop :)

Now for the review of the coffee: imagine it on a big stage with lights and a camera view -slightly below head-on - to emphasize all of the coffee's features. Imagine it kind of like the crowning of Miss USA or awarding the Super Bowl trophy to the winning team. It is that intense. Here we go...

My dad and I ordered the Nitro Buckeye and were shocked at how much flavor was bursting from the foam and the hearty drink. No cream or sugar needed! The brew was perfectly roasted with small hints of peanutty (I don’t think that is a word...oops) chocolate and espresso. The liquid was so smooth as it ran from the tip of my tongue all the way to the back of my throat. There was no bitter finish, but a savory flavor that left me wanting more. I am still thoroughly impressed by this endeavor and excited to follow The Drank Tank around as a potential coffee groupie!

Check out The Drank Tank's website to see more photos, pitstops and potions. Also, keep an eye out for The Drank Tank to appear at the Moonlight Market if you are local to Columbus! You won't regret it!

The Moonlight Market sounds like an incredible experience—discovering unique crafts and flavors under the night sky! I’d love to stroll through with a warm cup of decaf coffee in hand, soaking in the atmosphere.
