Bitty & Beau's Coffee

Milano Cookie with Toasted Marshmallow Iced Coffee - Wilmington, NC

Coffee with purpose and personality. Yes, pulling in to a car dealership parking lot is a very unusual place for a coffee shop to be located, BUT it is definitely worth venturing to. Upon entering the urban and minimalistic, high-ceilinged coffee house, the aroma of coffee was a satisfying scent. Maintaining the rustic and modern paradox, the interactive inclusivity was definitely the most impressive business model yet. Being distinctive by location, the heart of the baristas had a unique flair. The staff was beyond friendly and always smiling which may be expected at every coffeehouse, but here there is an unreal sense of passion and love put into every. single. cup. Walking to the counter, you’ll quickly notice something extraordinary about the staff: almost every worker was special needs. Bitty & Beau’s coffee prides itself on employing special needs people to give them a sense of purpose while exposing the idea that they can do anything they put their mind to. Here, coffee has completely eliminated incompetence. How inspiring is that??

Personally, the diversity behind the counter was a huge draw to the barista bar, but it didn’t stop there. After ordering, guests are encouraged to pin their hometown on a mural of the United States. The wall was completely covered with red pinheads from top to bottom. Some even included notes of encouragement to their hometown. In seeing where all of the customers were coming from, it was impressive and genuine to see the expansion of those being united by coffee.

Our cashier was named Matt and he knew absolutely everything about the coffee shop. He was an encyclopedia advocate and knew facts like the ingredients in a drink to who founded it; how the beans are sourced and even how Rachael Ray stays so actively involved. It is her signature coffee used on her show – I don’t blame her!

Now the coffee: absolutely amazing. Matt recommended that I mix up the generic Milano Cookie Mocha and add toasted marshmallow syrup to it as well. I could not turn it down. As the sweet espresso finished off with a subtle chocolatey taste, the separation of flavors extended the coffee experience throughout my palette and seemed never-ending. But I’m not complaining! The smooth liquid perfection was irresistible and compelling. So much so that one of my friends went a bought one himself after finishing his first drink. It was THAT good.

Since you can’t keep coffee forever, Bitty & Beau’s not only offers you an unforgettable experience but leaves you with plenty of merchandise to choose from. This included endless pounds of beans to hats, aprons, baby onesies, t-shirts and more. As you take in the experience, definitely bring it home with you too. I strongly recommend it!
