Green Joe's Coffee Company - Greensboro, NC

The coffee addiction is real. It is a force that cannot be reckoned with. During this past long weekend, the late nights and early mornings gave my friends and me reason to take in caffeine throughout the whole day. I couldn't complain. Any excuse for a good brew is a good excuse for me. Unfortunately, sometimes the whole "cafe" idea can be limited. This means that my failure to be the energizer bunny after 6 PM might have a lost opportunity to regain itself if all of the coffee shops nearby are closed by 4 in the afternoon. Luckily, (this was the saving grace), Green Joe's in Greensboro, North Carolina helped me out. I pulled out my phone and googled the place. Front and center was my favorite phrase: "HOURS OPEN: 8 PM". It was in that moment that I knew the energy would soon be regained.

On the dark, rainy (but relatively cool) night in North Carolina, we came upon Green Joe's Coffee Company. Looking exactly like it does online in pictures, I anticipated the chic, modern and city-feel experience of the cafe. Humbly enough, it was on the corner of a somewhat run-down strip mall that didn't necessarily give off the expected Manhattan feel. The exterior of the cafe impresses nothing spectacular, or even out of the ordinary, but it seemed as if it had a personality or a destination apart from the rehab and tax services surrounding it (Always remember, don't judge a book by its cover). My instincts were right; Green Joe's was unique in every good way and encapsulated an unknown adventure within its walls.

The seasonal menu is my weakness. I am fascinated by the creativity that can be based around a single point in time. My drink of choice for the night was "Sticky Toffee" made with sea salt caramel and English toffee. I am not one to jump after a very sweet drink and I did have my reservations about such a sugary delight, but I was tremendously impressed by the outcome. The salted caramel balanced the toffee sweetness and, even better, the combination of the two flavors actually enhanced the authentic coffee taste. Who knew a cup of coffee could be so advanced?!

Definitely experience Green Joe's Coffee Company if you are ever in Greensboro. (Even if you don't like coffee, the experience is enough in itself.) With the small batch roasting technique and the connoisseurs behind the bar, you cannot be disappointed.
